US Speech & Debate finishes in the top 10 programs in the state at CHSAA 4A Championship. 

Februrary 23-24, 2024 | Tournament Recap

For the first time in program history, CA finishes 9th overall at the CHSAA 4A Speech & Debate State Championship hosted at Pueblo Central. We had 21 students in attendance and advanced to late elimination rounds of Lincoln-Douglas, Original Oratory, Public Forum, and US Extemporaneous Speaking.

Kit & Helaina make it to finals and finish 2nd & 4th in US Extemp!

Kit & Helaina had an incredible tournament, earning their way into the final round. In finals, Kit gave a speech comparing the Biden and Trump Doctrines, while Helaina tackled US interventionism in Latin America. 

Jack Ege advances to the Quarterfinals & finishes 6th overall in Lincoln-Douglas Debate

Arguing both sides of US military presence in West Asia and North Africa, Jack becomes the first Lincoln-Douglas debater in program history to advance to the quarterfinal round at the state tournament.

Teams of Augie & Robert and Wendy & Ella, become the first Public Forum squads to advance at CHSAA in

CA Speech & Debate history. 

In one of the largest events by entries at the state tournament, both teams broke through the pack to advance to elimination rounds. After finishing undefeated in prelims, Augie and Robert advanced to the octofinal round, finishing in the top 10 in the tournament.

Ninth grader,

Leela Furgeson, has a breakthrough performance making it to semifinals in

Original Oratory.

Giving a riveting speech on food allergies, Leela finished first place in two of her preliminary rounds against experienced orators across the state.

JUDGE TRAINING WORKSHOP | 2/29

Interested in judging at future tournaments? We will be hosting a judge training workshop in partnership with Denver Christian this Thursday 2/29 at 6:00 pm in Knowles. All are invited.

Any students interested in attending NSDA nationals is encouraged to attend. This year's national tournament will be June 16 - 21 in

Des Moines, Iowa. 

COLORADO ACADEMY HOSTING ON 4/19

We need all the help we can get to be great hosts on April 19th. We will be hosting middle school teams from across Colorado and need parents to help with judging and hospitality for the tournament. If you are interested in volunteering please email the coaches below.
